Landor House

Lambeth Hospital was built on the site of the Stockwell Smallpox Hospital and two original buildings still exist on the hospital site. The Gate House Clinic and Landor House will be extended and joined together to form a new training centre, café, library, community hall and security office.

The differing scales and levels of the two original buildings have been linked by introducing a series of party walls and gable walls to act as dividers between the different spaces and functions. Brick, render, glass and zinc form the envelope to the new structures with details which are sympathetic to the Victorian architecture of the existing buildings. The completed scheme will create a more prominent entrance to the hospital site on Landor Road and provide a link to the local community by allowing aspects of the new facility to be used by the public.
