Retail Projects

Other types of retail project that John Bodley-Scott has been involved in whilst employed as an architect include a flagship Habitat store in Croydon whilst working at Arthur Collin Architect and large city centre regeneration projects such as Princesshay in Exeter and Whitefriers in Canterbury whilst employed at Chapman Taylor.

The Habitat Store in Croydon combined Western Red Cedar cladding with galvanised steel curtain walling to provide a new facade to an existing retail unit and create a new focus to a previously bland retail park. The large city centre retail projects at Princesshay and Whitefriars incorporated an urban design approach to the shopping centre so that existing streets and squares could be integrated into the masterplan to encourage a mix of uses and continue the grain of the existing urban form.
